Beneath the Waterfall

Description

Dahlia simply shrugged before starting to pad back towards camp, following the familiar scent of Rippleclan.

They padded back to the clan and sat near the scenic waterfall. Russetstreak smiled. "So is there anything else you would like to learn today?" he asked.

"Maybe you could teach me a few battle moves" she suggested nonchalantly.

Russetstreak's ears perked. "Of course! What were you thinking?" he mewed. He wondered what she thought she needed improvement on.

"I know thanks to my size I am good and sliding under and around opponents but I am not too good at distributing my weight when attacking.. And I don't know a very wide variety of moves"

Russetstreak nodded. "Well, the first thing you need to know is that applying wait has to do with your balance on your paws. They need to be evenly distributed,"

Dahlia nodded, ears twitching a bit. "I see.."

"You also might need to apply weight to even the tips of your paws while running. It lightens your noise and is a great way to balance," Russetstreak suggested.

Dahlia nodded, looking down at her paws while he spoke. "Do you really think I will be a good warrior someday?" she meowed.

Russetstreak smiled. "Of course I do! I wouldn't have brought you here if I didn't believe that. Any cat would be lucky to have you by their side," he mewed.

She felt her fur bristle and she blushed softly. "You're very sweet" she meowed, pressing herself to him happily.

"I'm just being honest. You don't give yourself enough credit" Russetstreak meowed.

Dahlia shrugged "Being a loner for so long I guess I don't think I deserve much credit."

Russetstreak turned around and his smile disappeared. He had become completely serious with her. "You deserve more than you receive. I hope someday you really that," he said looking into her deep turquoise eyes. She wasn't taking anything he was saying to heart. He had to get to her somehow. She really did deserve a good life.

When he spoke again, she couldn't help staring into his eyes, nodding slowly. "...Ok" she murmured shyly. He has really nice eyes... she shook her head a little to rid of the thought. "...Thank you" she meowed.

Russetstreak stepped back a bit realizing he had invaded her personal space. Besides, he was always way to proper to recognize a time and a place. "Y-you're welcome," he mewed looking the other way to hide the slight blush he had.

"..." Dahlia looked away shyly, smiling a little. She felt special for once.. And it was actually a bit overwhelming; "...It's getting late" Dahlia mumbled after a few minutes. She was surprised by how gorgeous the waterful looked in the sunset's light.

Russetstreak nodded. "But we're not late for the beauty of the lake. This has always been my favorite part of being a warrior," he finally replied. He never did like fighting or training, he just wanted to feel tranquil for a change and know that maybe everything would be alright, even if for just a brief moment.

Such a romantic scene.. she thought, gazing at the scenery. "I think it might end up being my favorite too~" she admitted.

"I'm glad. I've had so many fond memories here, it's hard to forget," Russetstreak replied. He was so calm all of a sudden.

Dahlia purred softly and rested her head against him. "I look forward to making memories here"

Russetstreak closed his eyes. "I am as well," he spoke softly. He already had, but he knew this was a place that could make him feel completely different than any other place could. It was as if every worry he had ever experienced had just disappeared.

Dahlia blinked, smiling when she saw a firefly flutter past her. She knew it. She'd made the right choice. She felt so... At home here..

"A good omen," Russetstreak whispered. Starclan had obviously approved of his decision.

*Time skip 8D*

She opened her eyes after a bit and sleepily pressed her nose to his cheek, purring softly.

Russetstreak couldn't help but purr as well. It was as if all the weights of his life were finally lifted for once. He just hoped it would stay that way.

"I'm glad... that I met you" she admitted shyly, staring at her paws.

"I'm glad I didn't let you go..." he admitted as well. That would have been one of his worst decisions.

Dahlia purred loudly and pressed her muzzle to his. Her tail shyly intertwined with his.

Russetstreak copied the she-cat. He didn't know what to do, after all. It's not like he has ever had feelings for another cat before.

Dahlia licked his cheek and then stood, moving away a little. "Come on, it's late we should head back" she meowed softly.

"You're right," Russetstreak admitted. He followed her as she made her way back to camp.
